CKC Kansas City

by Melissa on October 14, 2008

I had an awesome time in KC. I took several classes and even did the Saturday night crop. It was really nice to hang out with my sister, too, since we don’t do a lot of things together.

But of course, the best part of the weekend was meeting my all-time favorite designer, Cathy Zielske. She gave a class on how her scrapbooking journey has changed over the years and what scrapbooking means to her. It made me reconsider the reasons why I scrapbook.  And she was very gracious to all of us groupies who mobbed her for photos and autographs in our copies of her books.

If you need some entertainment, I highly recommend reading her blog . She’s a natural comedian. She had us laughing throughout her class, but then nearly had us in tears at some of her sentimental layouts. She’s one cool lady.

Now it’s time to get caught up on the homework for her Design Your Life class at Big Picture Scrapbooking.

lovely piece! I actually like the bling and the flower..it complements the piece really well! Scrapbooking to me..hmm, it’s a way of discovering myself and exploring life too, the more I create, and try to find the right words, the more I learn and discover things in unexpected ways :)

Natalia, you are so right. Scrapbooking opens a whole other side of me. The creativity connects deeper thoughts and feelings to my experiences. Sometimes you don’t realize what you are taking away from an experience until you begin to scrapbook it.
